"Salting" is a scam in which gemstones, silver of gold are planted in a mine or on a landscape to change its market value. During gold rushes, scammers would load shotguns with gold dust and shoot into the side of the mine to give the appearance of a rich ore, thus "salting" the mine. Here, a black monochrome, painted with a mixture of black pigments (Bone Black, produced from animal bones and Carbon Black, produced from coal tar or other heavy petroleum products) is "salted" with pulverized animal bones (fish and mammals bones used as fertilizer, as well as blended urchin bones). The resulting Salted Spaces are images remnant of distant stars and galaxies yet to be named or organized as constellations, and produced with the pulverized structures of late animals. The Salted Spaces point thus to a space where opposite scales of structure co-exist; and where matter, process and language could all be in turn called "salting" agents.
